So I was in Home Goods last weekend looking for a cheese grater (and, honestly, just to wander around Home Goods). I walked through the candle aisle on the way to the register, when what should I see on the shelf?
I’m a Capricorn, I thought! And it’s a shoe! On the back, it has another image of the shoe and four traits about your sign (for Caps, it says loyal, practical, affectionate, and hardworking). Plus it smells lovely—I’m an Earth sign, so it’s a scent called “Terra Firma.” (Lucky you, Taurus and Virgo girls—you get this scent too!) It’s about 4”x4” and about 2” deep, burns for about 50 hours, and came in a little drawstring bag. I snagged mine for six bucks, but if your local Home Goods is out of them (or out of your sign) you can get one online from the designer Christopher Vine for $15. Some of the shoe/sign pairings are especially cute—I enjoy the furry Leo shoe, the duelling Gemini cameos, and the feisty red Taurus shoe with bull horns on the toe.
But, it turns out, Christopher Vine’s whimsical shoes are on a bunch of other things as well! He’s got a couple other candle designs:
This design is called “Imelda”—love! (My co-workers call me Imelda. Funny story; I’m five degrees of separation away from Imelda Marcos if you go through my grandmother’s poodle. I’ll tell you sometime.) It’s four inches tall and burns for 50 hours, and comes in sixteen different designs (and about as many scents!), any of which can be yours for $22. Many of them come in a votive size, too—two inches tall, and burns for five hours. Those are $5.
And to light them? Matches, of course!
There are other cute things as well—sachets:
They’re 2.5” square and are filled with the relaxing scent of lavender (mmm... lavender!). Twelve different shoe designs; each for $5. I just love the little bead detail.
As if there was any doubt you were a fashionista! They hold 12 ounces of your favorite drink and are made of fine bone china, and can be yours for $16.
