The maximum number of Friday the 13ths that any year can have is three. Guess how many we’ve had in 2012? Three! An especially unlucky year?
Nonsense! But just for fun, here are lots of unlucky things—in shoe form!
Black cats:
Aww, how could these little kitties be bad luck? Velvet Mary Janes have eyes, pointy ears, and hand-stitched features. From etsy seller Em & Sprout (yes, they of the adorable cupcake Mary Janes!) for $25. (She has a bunch of different versions of the kitty shoe—some have bows!)
Ladders:
Hmmm… with ladders up the front of the Donte by Sigerson Morrison, I’m not sure how you’re not supposed to walk under a ladder! The suede upper has gold ladder features up the front and across the toe, and the 4.5-inch wedge has a Lucite accent. On sale for $340 (down from $425) on Zappos.
Broken mirrors:
These are worth seven years of bad luck! These leather peep-toe platforms from Marc Defang New York are just covered in mirror bits and little silver rhinestones. Five-inch heels and one-inch platforms mean plenty of room for sparkle. Half sizes only; yours for $239.
And open umbrellas in the house:
Let’s zoom in on the print, shall we?
See all the little shoes and purses on the Leighton Madrid Compact Umbrella? Pumps! Strappy wedges! Sexy boots! Not bad for an umbrella... not bad at all. Find it on QVC for $21—also available in five other colors if you don’t like the shoes! (But why wouldn’t you like the shoes?)
So carry your four-leaf clover and lucky penny and with any luck, see you again Tuesday!
