The New Glass Slippers

Wonder what Cinderella would wear to the ball today?  (Especially salient point with Halloween approaching.)  Well, DSW has answered that question with their Glass Slipper Collection!  According to DSW, “The inspiration for the line came from the vision of Disney artist Mary Blair’s original art for the film. We took a close look at the film’s aesthetic details—the rich textures and fabric, the beautiful blue in Cinderella’s dress, even the French rococo-inspired scenery.  Every whimsical touch featured in the footwear collection came right out of the film.”

So, how’d they do?  Some are closer hits than others, I think, but all five are quite pretty:

This is the Royal Pump: a satin d’Orsay peep toe, adorned in lace.  It has a half-inch platform and a 4.5-inch heel, and is available in this fuchsia and black combo, ivory and black, or all ivory for $70.

This is the Romance Sandal: a peep toe slingback with a 4.5-inch glitter heel and glitter bow at the toe.  (It also has a half-inch platform.)  It’s available in this silver, and also, black, white, champagne, and a bright pink with multi glitter; your choice for $60.

This is the Princess Sandal: a peep toe sandal with serpentine straps curling around the foot.  (And one of those straps is covered in rhinestones!)  It has a 4.25-inch heel and a .75-inch platform (with nice detailing), and is available in this pink, black, silver, white, and cobalt.  Yours for $80.

This beauty is the Cinderella Pump: a round toe satin pump with a 4.5-inch heel, .75-inch platform, and delicate beading around the foot.  (And nice rhinestones on the toe!)  This one’s only available in white or ivory; your choice for $90.

And my personal favorite for last!

This is the Charming Sandal: doesn’t it remind you of Cinderella’s dress?  It’s even got hidden sparkles in the poof at the peep toe, which just makes me think of the subtle sparkle of Cinderella’s dress:

But back to the shoes.  They have a satin upper with a tulle overlay (slightly ruched—love), an ankle strap with rhinestone buckle, and of course the poof and rhinestone knot at the toe.  They have a 3.75-inch heel and .25-inch platform, and are available in this beautiful blue (“Cindy blue”!) or black, silver, white, and eggplant.  Each is $60.
