April Fools!

Happy April, everybody!  I hope none of you got pranked too badly yesterday, what with it being April Fool’s Day and all.  No salt instead of sugar in your coffee?  No hidden Post-It on the bottom of your coworker's mouse so it doesn't read?  (Come on, that one's genius.  I'm just giving them to you!)

No, the Shoe Fairy won't be pulling a prank on you today, but I thought it would be fun to look at some "shoes" that aren't just shoes: they are birds, food, or other flights of fancy.  In fact, they are pairs of wearable art by Israeli shoe designer Kobi Levi.  Take a look!

Coffee, anyone?  It’s a white pitcher (even an embossed pitcher!)  pouring coffee!  Amazing.  ($1960)

Eat your heart out, Toucan Sam!  The beak is the heel, and just look at all the feathers fanning across the toe.  ($1800)

A banana peel you want to step on!  I swear, I don’t know how that little curl of peel is supposed to hold you up, but Kobi says it will, so it must be so!  ($1400)

It’s a flamingo!  The flamingo legs that make up the heel are just perfect, don’t you think?  ($1960)

Okay, I love how the orca is made of patent leather instead of regular ol’ leather like the others, because it makes it look like it just bellied up out of a pool at Sea World.  ($1680)

Meow!  This one is almost too amazing to believe: an upper of soft suede, a carefully-sculpted cat-leg-shaped heel, a collar with little jingle bell, and the ankle strap is the tail!  Let me repeat: THE ANKLE STRAP IS THE TAIL!  Amazing!

No jokes: these are some awesome shoes.  Maybe for next April Fool’s Day…?
