Sometimes, the shoe you want just doesn’t exist. You can see it in your mind, but it’s just not out there. Maybe it’s for your wedding; maybe you’ve just always wanted it but have never found it; maybe your foot is on the very small or very large side and they never have anything cute for you. Why must fate thwart you at every turn?!
Not anymore! Your salvation has arrived!
I have found two pretty awesome design-your-own shoe sites, where you can pick the kind of shoe you want to design, fabrics, trims, heel height… all the good stuff. The first is Shoes of Prey. Vitals:
- Prices range from $129-$199 depending on the type shoe.
- Shipping is free (all the way from Australia!) and the come in about 6 weeks.
- Sizing ranges from 2.5 to 15. That’s downright AMAZING.
- Widths are regular, narrow, and wide.
- Are each of your feet different sizes? That’s okay! They can make you one in each size!
- Also included: a variety of inserts to help them fit their best.
- Returns or remakes are okay up to a year after your order (unless you have different size feet—then you’re out $100).
So let’s make something! How about a pump? You can never have too many pumps.
Okay, cool. Now pick colors, fabrics, and the actual shape of the shoe itself:
I made mine a peep toe and slimmed up the heel a bit. I am loving the blue and green fishskin fabric, and if you have read any of my posts ever you know I am a glitterholic, so I have black glitter on the platform and heel. You can even choose additions for the toe or heel. So here’s my shoe!
And I heart the touch of pink at the toes. So fun!
The second custom shoe site is Milk and Honey. The vitals:
- Prices range from $150-$285 depending on the type shoe.
- Shipping is free, and they arrive in 6-8 weeks.
- Sizing ranges from 4 through 12, though it looks like they can go higher or lower depending on the shoe.
- Returns or remakes are okay for 30 days.
Let’s see, what to make this time… maybe some platform wedges:
Well, those straps need to change. And let’s add some polka dots… and glitter!
There we go! Let’s take a closer look:
A stacked wedge, navy polka dot cotton, and gold glitter… perfect for summer in so many ways! These will run $265.
Milk and Honey even has some shoes designed by famous gals, and the proceeds go to their favorite charities. Whitney Cummings, Rachel Ray, Ginnfer Goodwin… but my favorite are Malin Ackerman’s, that benefit Somaly Mam:
Zebra pony, blue suede… the blue trim around the foot is an especially nice touch! Pick your own heel height (1.5” to 5”) and bring them home for $250 (though anything over 3.5” with a platform will run you an extra $35).
Both sites are just way too fun to play with! Apologies to all of your employers for any lost time you may have today. J
