Happy Hanukkah!

Tonight is the seventh night of Hanukkah.  So light the menorah:

This menorah is made of eight different boots!  (My favorite is the blue fur-lined one all the way on the right—I want those on my feet right now!  But there’s one for everyone here.)  Find it on Amazon for $30.

Put on some comfortable shoes:

I really love the print on these flip flops.  (If you do too, it comes on everything from pillows to phone cases, but the pillows are especially nice.)  And you see that “Customize It!” button?  You can choose either black or white footbeds and soles.  Yours for $45 on Zazzle.

Curl up with a book:

Yes, that says Jews and Shoes!  Here’s a little about it from Amazon:

Shoes are an integral part of Jewish material culture. Although they appear in some of the most foundational biblical stories, they are generally regarded as no more than lowly, albeit essential, accessories.  Jews and Shoes takes a fresh look at the makings and meanings of shoes, cobblers, and barefootedness in Jewish experience. The book shows how shoes convey theological, social, and economic concepts, and as such are intriguing subjects for inquiry within a wide range of cultural, artistic, and historic contexts.  The book's multidisciplinary approach encompasses a wide range of contributions from disciplines as diverse as fashion, visual culture, history, anthropology, Bible and Talmud, and performance studies. Jews and Shoes will appeal to students, scholars and general readers alike who are interested to find out more about the practical and symbolic significance of shoes in Jewish culture since antiquity.

Okay, so it might not be light reading.  (Ha ha, “light”!  Hanukkah!  Candles!  Why is no one else laughing?)  But it gives a deep look at shoes in the Jewish tradition.  Yours for $31 on Amazon.

And don’t neglect to write thank you notes for all the goodies you got!

These note cards have eight sexy heels (plus a pair of knockout boots) all aflame with Hanukkah candles.  You can personalize them too, with up to 40 characters!  A pack of 25 will run you $25, but if you order 50 or 100 (for some reason… you got a lot of gifts?) the price-per-card goes down.  Go to Expressionery and check them out.

So happy Hanukkah, Jewish shoe fairies!  Kick up your heels these last two nights!
