It’s just barely winter and already we’ve had more
snow and ice than we need. That first
snowstorm? More snow than we had all of
last year. It took me two hours to do a
15 minute drive that day. Grrr. Stupid winter.
So don’t get caught again without the proper
tools! You’ll need snow boots, of
course, but not lame, plain black snow boots.
Everyone wears those. You are a deputy shoe fairy, so you need
a pair like these:
Aren’t they beautiful? The Janey
II by the North Face is a snow boot, all right (waterproof leather;
waterproof construction; something called a Winter Grip outsole base with
IcePick temperature sensitive lugs for excellent traction), but it’s more
stylish than the run of the mill ones you see.
Laces up the back, brass hardware, and faux fur complete the look. It does come in black, if you insist. But please consider this gorgeous brown! Your choice for $175 on Zappos.
If it’s icy, I have a colleague who absolutely swears
by these:
No, not the shoes—the things over the shoes! They’re called Yaktrax, and you put them over your shoes. The coils on the bottom prevent you from
slipping. People go for runs in these. On ice.
They run on ice. (Well, there goes my excuse.) That’s amazing. Find them on Amazon
for about $20.
Raining?
Look, they go over your heels! I mean, maybe not four-inchers, but those are
definitely three. The boots themselves
blue, red, and black, so take your pick!
Yours for $60 from Solutions.
There! Now
you’re all set, no matter what Mother Nature throws your way. Let’s hope she calms herself down a little, because
this is getting ridiculous.
Sales this weekend:
Sorry ladies, the Shoe Fairy is on vacation this week! But I'm pretty confident that the after-Christmas sales are all over the place.
