Down the Rabbit Hole

Ah, the holidays.  It brings to mind the classic story of a little girl who finds herself whisked away to a magical place, full of magical creatures, a queen, a court...

I mean Alice in Wonderland.  What magical story were you thinking of?

Now through January 4, Quintessence Theatre Group presents Lewis Carroll’s story as a modern adaptation, complete with original songs.  In the spirit, here are a number of shoes inspired by Alice’s trips through the looking glass or down the rabbit hole—and believe me, we have some real beauties this week.

There’s so much here, but they still feel clean, with lots of white space.  They are delicately painted with roses, clocks, and characters: the Cheshire Cat, the March Hare...  The red bow has a tiny teapot charm; the navy bow has a lock and key.  The heels read “The best gift you can give her is a lifetime of adventures” and “Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality.”  Amazing.  Yours for $145 from Etsy seller KUKLA Fashion Design.

This sparking pair uses a special digital print process that applies the images directly to the shoes!  How cool is that!  The heel is covered in Swarovski crystals, and the peep toe is topped with a big blue bow adorned with a crystal brooch and a golden key.  So beautiful!  $455 from Etsy seller Everlastinglifashion.

Fit for a queen indeed!  This pair of red faux suede platform pumps has all sorts of tiny details: practically a whole deck of tiny playing cards adorned with tiny red rhinestone hearts and pearls; red roses; a string of pearls where the vamp meets the platform; a dangling red rhinestone heart.  (Not to mention those black stilettos!  Yowza.)  Etsy seller That Fairytale Feeling will make you a pair for $142.

Inspired for a trip down the rabbit hole?  I know I am!
