Snow Boots

Sigh.  Yesterday we have a warm sunny day; today… wintry mix.  Not to mention the legit snowstorm we had last week.  Come ON, Mother Nature!  Cut us a break!!  This does not bode well.  Best to get your snow boots ready.

The thing is, though: snow boots are boring.  I’m serious.  They are the most boring type of shoe.  I’ve been looking for a new pair for myself after the frozen nightmare that was last winter, and it’s a total snoozefest.  Why do rain boots have all the fun?  Patterns, prints, bows…  Snow boots are a monotonous pile of black and brown.  As if winter wasn’t bleak enough already.  (Oh, and I don’t count anything with a stiletto or something that looks like you really wouldn’t be able to wear it outside in a snowstorm.  Tufts of fur do not snow boots make.)

I wish I had better news for you.  I wish I had better news for me.  But I’ll do my best:

The Valentine by GUESS is striking, with its wide black laces and big metal grommets.  The shaft is 10 inches high and 16 inches around, and lined with faux fur.  Also available in all black (BOR-ing!); your choice for $139 from Macy’s.

Admittedly there’s a lot going on with the Gwen by MUK LUKS, but it’s better than boring black!  Faux fur, sweater knit, faux suede… and Thinsulate for maximum warmth in minimal space.  Also available in a gray marl (BOR-ing!); your choice for $70 from 6pm.

There’s sweater detailing on the Caroline by Totes as well, but in a gray, black, and white print.  The shaft is 13 inches high and 15 inches around, and has fleece on the inside to keep your toesies warm.  Find them at DSW for $50.

Ready?  Bring it on, winter!
