Boots Fur Fall

Fall is here! (Officially. As of today. I know it doesn’t exactly feel like it out there, what with the like 160% humidity, but trust me—fall is here!) One of my favorite trends for fall: fur. It’s everywhere! It’s luxurious, it’s fun (and for you vegan types, it’s fake). Treat yourself with some fur this fall! Maybe these:

The Fur-Trimmed Wedge Booties have a half-inch platform, 3.5-inch heel, and is made of faux fur and faux leather. Priced at $45; find them at Bare Feet Shoes.

Oh, how I love these!! The Henriq by Nina have a twelve-inch shaft (seven inches in diameter) covered in fur and laced with ribbon embellishments. They also have a one-inch platform and five-inch heel—these are some seriously beautiful boots. Like a ballerina in a Moscow winter. They can be yours for $179 from Macy’s.

The Osage by GUESS are so sophisticated—a 4.5-inch heel, three-quarter-inch platform, and a leather upper with buckles and straps. Available in bisque (shown) or black; find them at Nordstrom for $159.

Rock star fur—badass! The Fur ee Bootie by Two Lips have a five-inch stiletto (look at that spike!), one-inch platform, silver buckles... these are some powerful boots. Find them at DSW for $120.

The Purr by Naughty Monkey look classic from the front, but are a little punky from the back. They come in a bunch of colors if the gray isn’t your thing (black, taupe, and chocolate with beige)—find them all on Amazon for $90.

Red Hot Philadelphia Summer

According to this article, Philly gals can’t get enough of OPI’s Malaga Wine on their nails this summer. If you’re one of the ladies walking around with these raspberry-crimson toes, let’s get you some shoes that best show them off! I love the idea of strong crimson toes peeking through this frilly, nude wedge—ladylike and seductive at the same time; all the color focus is on the toes but there’s still so much going on subtly. The Sandy Wedge by Two Lips has a five-inch cork wedge, a 1.25-inch platform, and a synthetic upper and sole. Also in black; find them at DSW for $50.

I love red and teal:
Bam! The Bridgit has a teal microsuede upper (or pink, or natural, or black) with a slingback, and a 3.75-inch wedge and a 5/8-inch platform wrapped in rope. Find them at Bakers, on sale for $20!

Nothing looks richer than red and gold:

The Ivalee by Isola have a leather upper in gold, black, or ivory, a sleek T-strap, a four-inch heel and a half-inch platform, and a leather insole with a cushioned toe. They even have studs around the heel, since the spikes post was such a big hit. Warning: runs narrow! Pick up a pair at Macy’s for just under $170.

Red and white: so bright and cool!

The Hooped Caged-In Flat is a classic gladiator sandal with silver studs and chain detail, and a zipper going up the back for easy entry. Also available in black or tan. Pick up a pair from Bare Feet Shoes for $25.

And the grand finale, if you’re an 8.5:

The I00092 by Giuseppe Zanotti are so beautiful: sleek ankle and toe straps, red jewels all around the heel, leather lining and sole, and a four-inch heel. Get these Italian beauties from Zappos Couture for $850.

Double Duty Flip Flops

So on my trip to the beach this weekend, I packed about five pairs of shoes. Shoes for dinner, shoes for the beach... by the end, I was relying on a single pair. Waterproof, sandproof, fancy enough for dinner, easy to walk in the sand, and matched everything: The Libby Gem Stone Flip Flop by Mossimo was just perfect. And I got them cheap! You can too—$3.88 if you’re a 5, $12.99 if you’re a 9 or 10, from Target. (Also available in bronze, black, silver, and blue.)

If you’re headed to the beach this summer, I give you some more picks for flip-flops that (1) won’t get ruined in the sand or water, (2) can go straight from the beach to the bar, (3) won’t be responsible for any twisted ankles in the sand, and (4) aren’t so expensive that you feel you’ve lost a limb if you leave one behind. (Though you’ll still miss them, ‘cuz they’re adorable!) The Lucy Flip Flop by OKA b. is oh-so-classy in black and red (also available in all tan), and that flower is waterproof, unlike all those fabric flowers out there. Yours for $20 from DSW.

How about a bow? The Gilda Thong Sandal by BCBGeneration will match everything you pack, and is just too cute with that adorable flower-bow thing on the toe. You can pick them up at Macy’s for just under $17.

Time for a little more summer color! Oh, and rhinestones—the Jeweled Thong Jelly Sandal has rhinestones going all up its front, ending in a tiny bow. Lovely! Find them at Bare Feet Shoes for $18.

The Latai Gem Flower Flip Flops by Mossimo Black come in silver or gold and have a nice-sized rhinestone flower at the toe. Find them at Target for between $7 and $11. Slip on these babies and you’re ready for a day or night at the shore.

Enjoy!

Shoes of a Different Stripe

I’ve been on the lookout for zebra print shoes lately, since I was hoping they could join giraffe and cheetah in my shoe menagerie. Lo and behold, as I perused the sale section of the mothership (er, DSW), I found some! A pair of rockin’ zebra flats! The Zelara by G by Guess is zebra print, yes, but it also has three ruffles of dark purple satin and two rows of shining faceted beads. I fell in love with them at first sight. If you have a similar feeling, you can find them at DSW. They’re $40 online, but I got them for about $10 less in-store. When I mentioned my find to my Writing for the Arts classmates on Wednesday, they squealed for a zebra shoe post. I am happy to oblige, ladies! Let’s start off with a nice wedge: These beauties have a heel just shy of five inches and a 1.5-inch platform just robed in zebra, plus a criss-cross feature at the toe and across the foot. They’re just so sharp—I love it. Find them at Bare Feet Shoes for $30.

Prefer a heel? The Moora by Style&co. have a satin/chiffon upper with a striking black chiffon bow across the peep toe (I love those three strong black stripes up the side) and black patent leather on the four-inch heel and three-quarter-inch platform. They’re so chic! Pick them up at Macy’s for just under $70.

How about a bootie?

The Zebra Cut Out Boots by Trey86 have a five-inch stacked heel and a half-inch platform with a zipper up the back to help you get them on and off. Oh, and they’re red on the inside—fierce. You can find them in scattered sizes around the internet, but if you’re a 7 or a 9 you can get them from Amazon for just about $30.

And maybe one more flat:
This flat has a textured zebra upper with a patent leather bow on the toe. They also come in leopard if you like your shoes with more teeth, and you can get them for under $21 from GoJane.

I came across more zebra-print slippers than I was expecting in my search, so when you kick off your heels at the end of a long day why not slip these on? Fur-lined zebra pom-pom slipper booties! And non-skid soles, too. They also come in lavender zebra and pink zebra, and you can get them from Crazy for Bargains for $16. Enjoy—and go a little wild!
