Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving, deputy shoe fairies!  Can you believe it’s Thanksgiving already?  December is next week.  I don’t know if I’m mentally ready for that.

But what’s not to love about Thanksgiving?  Family, friends, togetherness, gratitude.  (And food.  Delicious, delicious food.)  In the spirit of the day, here are some shoes you might enjoy on Thursday:

Aww.  Look at all the little turkeys all over these flip flops, and little turkey tracks, and little “Gobble Gobble”s written all over them… too cute.  Plus I really like the orange strap and sole—I think it’s just right.  It’s also available in black, which is also nice, or light blue or light pink, which are just… peculiar.  Your choice for $17 from Café Press.

Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Keds!  I always loved A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.  While these appear to be painted with the final dinner scene at Charlie Brown’s grandma’s house, I always preferred their feast in the backyard, with all their mismatched chairs, and their ping pong table, and their toast and jellybeans and pretzel sticks.  It just captures the spirit of Thanksgiving for me: that it’s about sharing what you have with the people you value, and it’s okay if it doesn’t match the magazine photos with their golden turkeys.  (It’s on tomorrow night at 8:00 PM, by the way.  Don’t miss it.)  Don’t miss out on these shoes either; they’re $45 from Etsy seller Annetastic.

Aaah, these are adorable!  Look at these wee felt turkeys, with their wide eyes and four rows of feathers.  They sit atop black cotton canvas Mary Janes that have rubber soles, so if you need to run out last minute for cranberry sauce, you’re covered.  Yours for $25 from Etsy seller Punkie Junkie.

I had to include these; I’m sorry.  But you have to admit your family will get a kick out of these slippers on Thanksgiving night!  And they do look cozy…ridiculous, but cozy.  (Ridiculously cozy?)  Find them at Amazon for $15.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Bacon Fest

Tonight, Philadelphia celebrates one of its favorite sons: Mr. Six Degrees of Separation himself, Kevin Bacon.  Yes, it’s the second annual Bacon Fest!  Starting at 5:00 pm, head over to The Oval (right in front of the art museum) to eat lots of bacon, play bacon games, watch a cooking demonstration, fill the bacon space capsule (a real thing), dancing…all capped off with a viewing of the fabulous Mr. Bacon in Apollo 13 at 9:00 pm.

The only thing that could make any of this more awesome?  Bacon shoes, of course.

These bacon flip flops are perfect for a summer evening enjoying the many wonders of bacon, wouldn’t you say?  And I prefer the black straps, but you could also choose pink, blue, or orange—your choice from Café Press for $18.

The Sharkz B Work Boot by MOZO is perfect if you have a job that requires you to stand most of the day, and if you enjoy bringing the image of bacon with you to work.  Side ventilation, a rubber sole, gel insoles, a customizable fit… great for walking around for several hours at Bacon Fest too!  Find them at Amazon for $51-$75, depending on size.  (Whole sizes only.)

Oh goodness, this high top is covered in bacon!  Strips and strips of crispy bacon.  A veritable buffet of bacon.  I feel like they should give you extra free bacon if you wear these.  Yours for $45 from Etsy seller Custom Hi Tops.

So let us hail the humble pig, provider of bacon!

These slippers will keep your little piggies warm, that’s for sure!  Look at their little noses and ears… and they look so squishy soft!  They’re on a base of one-inch thick foam, so every step will be in comfort.  Great to wear while you watch the movie, eh?  Yours for $25 from BunnySlippers.com.

Are you ready?  The go get your bacon (and Bacon) on!
